Mount Kearsarge is a mountain located in Wilmot, New Hampshire, and Warner, New Hampshire. Two state parks are located at the northern and southern bases of the mountain—Winslow State Park and Rollins State Park, respectively—and the entire mountain is within Kearsarge Mountain State Forest. On a very clear day, skyscrapers in the city of Boston 80 miles (130 km) away are visible from the fire tower on the summit. The summit has remained bare since a 1796 forest fire.

The name of the mountain evolved from a 1652 rendering of the native Pennacook tribal name for the mountain, Carasarga, which it is surmised means "notch-pointed-mountain of pines".

  • Awesome hike on a beautiful day! Took the auto road to the summit, then hiked Lincoln trail up and Rollins trail down. Great views from the top and was able to go inside the fire tower! Lincoln trail is .4 miles to summit, but very steep and rocky. Rollins trail is .5 mile, but was muddy in some flat spots.
  • A great shortcut to the White Mountains! The views are comparable to Mt. Monadnock, Mt. Cardigan, Welch Dickey Loop, but the hike is 10 times easier (if you drive up from the south). The fire tower is also is a plus. The top is smooth granite with nearly 360 deg views, on a clear day you can see Mt. Washington. If you want a longer hike you can walk up on the north side, I have done these as well. The best views are from the top 500 feet so you get them from either approach.
