  • We skipped the reconstructed "Birthplace of Texas," but the museum is very good. Knowing the history, however, our real adventure was outside, where we gathered pecans blown down by a storm the night....  more

  • Always a good time , walking around the trails, looking at the flowers! The trails over the dam still aren't open. Best Bluebonnets are by the visitors center. April 15 ,2022. There is a new trail to the wildflower loop, across the lake bed. Spooky woods, open pasture and the loop. Trail is nice, I haven't been since the dam washed out. Good flowers, not great, but fun hike, about 30 minutes extra.
  • Amazing! Got there at 9am and stayed all the way to closing at 5. $25 for family if 8 and really worth it. They have a great spot for picnics, wonderful interpretive tours, great museum with scavenger hunt pages for kids, I think we all loved the farm the best. Their reenact people did such an excellent job explaining to our 5-63 year old crowd. They obviously love their jobs and people. Thanks for an amazing day!
