  • On my Texas History roadtrip in July, visiting Washington on the Brazos was a top 3 moment for me. I've always gravitated towards more of the military side of history, but here I was able to slow down and appreciate the everyday life and political sides of history. I got a 1 on 1 tour of Independence Hall and my presenter was incredible and was drawn to every word he presented. It was incredible walking the grounds including seeing a tree that stood at the same time and place as the likes of Houston and other historical figures. The museum inside the visitors center was a great experience and I was very impressed with the presentations. I will be leaving my review of the Star of the Republic Museum on that page, but you cannot come to one without visiting the other. Truly one of the best historical experiences of my life, I highly recommend coming here!
  • Nice grounds, real history of Texas site that isn't a battlefield but an earliest of settlements. Nearby museum and live tours as well as an inviting amphitheater. Weather gets a vote on how enjoyable it is to roam and learn about the lives of thriving pioneers, so plan wisely.
