Create an itinerary including Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center
Watch grizzly bears and gray wolves in natural habitats at Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center. This nonprofit zoo specializes in its focus on these two particular animals, which are part of the Yellowstone ecosystem. The center also distinguishes itself from many other zoos by hosting only animals that are not able to survive in the wild. The zoo began as a sanctuary for bears that were unable to continue living in the wild in 1993. Wolves were added to the sanctuary in 1996. The center is now connected with Yellowstone National Park and hosts several of the park's programs. • My son and I had not seen any grizzlies or wolves in Yellowstone so I spent a few hours at the discovery center about a mile from our hotel (Three Bears Lodge-- nice place). Great place to see...

  • Kids will love this place... if they are into bears, wolves or wildlife in general. The animals are active under normal conditions, even if sleeping, you can see something. Gift shop has a ton of neat stuff, if you want. There is even a little play ground if your little one gets board with everything else. I think the Bald Eagles need a little more space and the fish and otter sanctuary is very cool! If you have a few hours to spend, this is an easy choice! Enjoy!
  • It was a really nice place. I was visiting from Alberta and making it to the discovery Center was on my list. It close to closing time (late afternoon) so the wolves were a bit more active which was nice. The bears were also out and about and we got see them feed I also got to see a demonstration on how to properly use bear spray. I would definitely recommend a visit if you are in west Yellowstone. I also got to see some birds of prey. It's non-profit so that is also a good reason to support the center.
