  • Hickory run is definitely a beautiful park. Still have more to see. But the one thing that baffles me is the last time I was there, I was trying to find the historic cabins that were on a dirt road in a loop. But no matter where I looked, they were nowhere to be seen! I know I'm not crazy. Been there many times before and actually went inside them. Even asked the ranger at the visitors center but he was fairly new and wasn't familiar with them. The only thing I can think of was that there had been flooding and they were damaged which is entirely possible since that was what destroyed the original towns built in that area. If you ask at the office, right up the road is the cemetery from those towns. If Anyone remembers those cabins and can tell me that I'm not crazy, I would love to hear from you!
  • We have enjoyed camping here quite a few times. Friendly and informative staff, clean bathrooms, and nice sites. I like that the sites are not super crammed together. This is a very nice area in the state, and a place we like to come stay. Be sure to drive back and check out the bolder filed. It is a cool little natural wonder. Enjoy! . . .
