Inside Colonial Williamsburg, Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum adds a layer to the town's history with a large collection of folk art. Abby Aldrich Rockefeller's original collection of 424 pieces makes up the core of the museum, featuring primarily South American and African American artwork dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. Textiles, sculptures, and paintings by self-trained artists experiment with bold colors and shapes, some of which depict images from American history. • Enjoyed this museum, especially what I dubbed the "1700's Pampered Chef" section. Amazing what novel ideas they had in the 1700's, & the gadgets that stemmed from them ... asparagus wedges, cucumber....  more »
  • We had been to Williamsburg twice before but had never taken time to visit the Folk Art Museum. It is full of fascinating sculptures, wooden figurines, and paintings each with their own unique story.....  more »
  • A first class museum with multiple different collections and history presentations. Could spend many days here. Wish the cafetetia/coffee shop had better options .
  • Maybe our expectations were too high but aside from some beautiful furniture I didn't get excited. Winterthur has better examples and there were renovations everywhere. Signage was abysmal. I don't think I will return.
