Jamestown Settlement offers a living recreation of the first successful English colony in North America. Located near the actual archaeological Jamestown site, the museum provides an open-air display of replica 17th-century buildings, a fort, and colonial life. You can explore the social history of the settlement through a series of exhibits and galleries, and experience a life-size Powhatan Native American village. To track the journey of the Jamestown colonists to the New World, don't miss the three sailing ships docked in the river. Visit the museum's gift shop for historical-themed souvenirs, hand-made ceramics, jewelry, and glassware. So let me start this off by saying the weather was HOT! But it was still an amazing experience. All the workers there were very knowledgeable and patient with our questions. The Ships were awesome, and Native American section was very informative. The Jamestown Settlement Part of it was really cool, we got to talk with the Carpenter for a while and then we went inside. Air Conditioning is amazing! We then visited all indoor exhibits and my kids loved it and it was very informative. We also checked out the Gift shop which had some very nice items and we ate at the Cafe which had really good Corn dogs. If you are in the area you should definitely check it out.

One of our favorite museums. When we went last weekend, they had their annual military of the ages events and it was fantastic. Reenactment of centuries of military with uniforms, clothing, weapons and food of their times. The museum had so much information about the first settlements and the native Americans tribes, Pocahontas and her father, that called this area home for centuries. The ships are amazing and very detailed to the ones that brought John Smith over. You are able to climb aboard the main ship to actually see what is was like on those ships. This museum is highly recommended and will continue to go again.
