Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park Reviews

When we first heard of a whirligig park in Wilson, I didn't have high expectations. Turns out, it's a beautiful little hidden gem in the downtown area! The whirligigs are all detailed pieces of art... more »
Wow! It is amazing that one man built all of these amazing whirligigs! It's a great place to visit, especially on a windy day! I love what the town of Wilson has done and that these treasures are being restored and maintained for all of us to enjoy! The area around the whirligigs is very nice. There are plenty of places to sit and sometimes there is music/bands to enjoy. There are a couple of restaurants very close by. I have been here 3 times now and it never gets old.
This is a very unique, well laid-out attraction. The whirligigs are amazing and appear to kept in A-1 condition. The park itself is spacious and open, making it easy to see all of the whirligigs from any location. One thing to consider: this is not a park that will keep kids entertained for hours. You won't find any rides, playgrounds or concessions in the park; there's an open grassy area, a stage (that showcases some excellent local talent) and the whirligigs. And that makes for a great walk in the park!
