Searles Castle, Windham

#29 of 55 in Historic Sites in New Hampshire
Castle · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
The Searles Castle is located in Windham, New Hampshire, in the United States. Edward Francis Searles commissioned its design and construction. Construction began in 1905 and was completed in 1915. It was intended to be a 1/4-scale replica of the medieval Tudor manor of Stanton Harcourt in Oxfordshire, England, but since most of the manor had been torn down in the 18th century, the castle bears little resemblance to the historical structure.

  • The best decision we made! Absolutely beautiful venue! Shaun and Scott was awesome. My wedding was so perfect because of these two! Couldn’t thank you enough! Definitely our fairy tale wedding come true!!!
  • Absolutely beautiful grounds! Well kept and gleaming with gorgeous landscaping. They were setting up for a wedding and we really just wanted to come by and take some pictures and look around. The staff did not mind as we were respectful not to disrupt their setup. I truly appreciate the welcoming and not being turned away. So, weddings do happen here mostly on weekends, so if this is a first time visit for you, you might want to double check before coming, just in case. Because if there is a wedding in progress, you will not be able to enter. Anyhow, again, absolutely amazingly beautiful and unique. Check it out if you ever have the chance. You can never regret seeing this, in my opinion.
