The Winston Cup Museum is a tribute to R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company’s 33-year NASCAR sponsorship. It is designed to preserve

NASCAR history and Winston-Salem’s ties to America’s No. 1 spectator sport.

A striking wall mural chronicling 33 years of Winston Cup racing covers three walls of the inside of the building, and a timeline of the

sponsorship is near the entrance to the museum. Among the permanent displays are tributes to such RJR-sponsored programs as The Winston Million, The Winston No Bull 5 and The Winston, NASCAR’s original All-Star race.

The museum houses authentic race cars from different eras of the 33-year NASCAR Winston Cup history. Race fans can see cars driven by Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Jeff Gordon, and even the first Winston Cup showcar that carried the inaugural Miss Winston in pre-race parade laps in the early 1970s. In addition to the different cars, the museum houses trophies, driver uniforms, helmets, winner’s checks, autographed pictures and original racing posters.

Cars and other displays seen in the Winston Cup Museum will rotate to highlight different stories from the Winston Cup era.

The Museum is presented by JKS Motorsports Inc. and is not affiliated with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, Reynolds American,

Inc. of which R.J. Reynolds is a subsidiary or NASCAR.

  • In this enclosure you can feel the adrenaline when you contemplate the cars that starred in the races until the last century. The mechanics and the preparation of the cars was something else, nothing like today.

  • Was pleasantly surprised by this museum. As a fan of Nascar from the 70's, 80's and 90's the displays brought back many a fine memory of this sport from when it was worth watching. Very well done and worth the few bucks to witness.
  • Had a great time visiting the museum. My son is a huge NASCAR fan, so he wouldn't let us stop in Winston Salem without making a stop here.
