The population was 516 at the 2010 census. The town is located just outside the Schoodic Peninsula portion of Acadia National Park, and is due east of the town of Bar Harbor.GeographyAccording to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 69.12sqmi, of which 14.36sqmi is land and 54.76sqmi is water.HistoryWinter Harbor was raided various times by French and natives during Queen Anne's War. The population density was 35.9PD/sqmi. There were 519 housing units at an average density of 36.1/sqmi. The racial makeup of the town was 96.9% White, 0.4% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.6% Asian, 1.4% from other races, and 0.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.7% of the population.
