  • It is a bridge that became the stage in the movie "Bridge of Madison County". I visited because I thought it was crowded with tourists, but it was quiet. It's the most famous covered bridge in Madison County, so if you don't have time, you should visit only this bridge.

  • Nice setting in a park in the city of Winterset, Iowa. A good place to get out and walk around and get some photos.  more »

  • This was a beautiful location to visit. We walked down below the bridge and the view was really quite stunning. We wanted to see the gift shop here as well, but unfortunately it wasn't open when we were here. We had heard it was the only bridge with a gift shop and the most famous bridge....the one from the movie. We were hoping for souvenirs. We did get some nice pictures.
  • It's worth the trip if you appreciate a bit of history, nostalgia and romance from the book and movie. We visited the bridges on a recent July Saturday. Roseman is the most famous but I really liked a few others just as much. It takes a good 2.5 hours to make the circuit of 6 Bridges and that's without stopping at a couple of decent wineries (which we did). Very pretty country, lots of gravel roads.
