Learn about a famous illustrator and puppeteer at Edward Gorey House, a house museum dedicated to the life and work of this eccentric American artist. Gorey lived in the 200-year-old house for the last 14 years of his life; today, it features a collection of his sketches, etchings, and personal effects, plus a host of bizarre artifacts the author collected in the last years of his life. In keeping with Gorey's ardent support of animal welfare, the museum also houses a number of cats and frequently features animal-themed exhibits. Make a four-legged friend and enjoy the shade of the large, rare southern magnolia in the yard of this charming museum. Cool to see so many knickknacks, photos, and sketches of Gorey's. I do think the staff needs to limit the size of the groups going on the tour- the house/ its rooms are not terribly big, and though...

Amazing experience! I’ve been a lifelong Gorey fan and we’ve now made two kiddos into fans as well. The scavenger hunt was super fun for kids and adults alike. Amusing signs and surprises hidden all over. Will definitely make this an annual visit!
A very unique museum that offers you a glimpse into the quirky world of Edward Gorey. Everywhere you look, there's something to take in. Each thing a little more interesting than the last. I find the staff to be super knowledgeable and friendly and helpful. It's an amazing thing to try to figure out how this man's mind worked and to get a glimpse into his world. Highly recommend if you're in the area that you stop by. The grounds are interesting as well.
