Probably the hottest geyser basin in Yellowstone National Park, Norris Geyser Basin melds pink, red, orange, and yellow, and bubbles at over 200 C (400 F). No plant, algae, or bacteria can survive in this environment; the acidic water gets its mesmerizing shades from mineral oxides. If you spend time here, you may see the largest geyser on the planet, which occasionally shoots out jets of water up to 116 m (380 ft) in the air. Start your tour at the Norris Museum, which features exhibits on the basin's traits, then walk along 3.6 km (2.2 mi) of trails, filled with hissing holes and pungent, steamy sights. With our world travel planner, Yellowstone National Park attractions like Norris Geyser Basin can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

Het is werkelijk prachtig, maar enorm druk, moeite met parkeerplek te vinden. Neem wel alle tijd. Goed beloopbaar. more »It is really beautiful, but enormous pressure, trouble to find parking space. Take all the time. Well-run.
Spectacular geyser. We didn't witness the main eruption though, it happens at random intervals, which is impossible to predict. There were many people waiting hoping to see such an eruption, we didn't have time to wait. The view was still spectacular though and well worth the visit. Parking is hard to come by as this is very popular. We visited early in the morning and the thick steam from the geysers made the viewing less spectacular than what you see in photos or videos.
One of my favorite places in Yellowstone. It is not quite as crowded as the old Faithful area. It seems to be an area of the Park that is continually changing. I am always interested to see how the geysers have changed since the last time I was there and how the Rangers have responded. Neat stuff to see.
