Probably the hottest geyser basin in Yellowstone National Park, Norris Geyser Basin melds pink, red, orange, and yellow, and bubbles at over 200 C (400 F). No plant, algae, or bacteria can survive in this environment; the acidic water gets its mesmerizing shades from mineral oxides. If you spend time here, you may see the largest geyser on the planet, which occasionally shoots out jets of water up to 116 m (380 ft) in the air. Start your tour at the Norris Museum, which features exhibits on the basin's traits, then walk along 3.6 km (2.2 mi) of trails, filled with hissing holes and pungent, steamy sights. With our world travel planner, Yellowstone National Park attractions like Norris Geyser Basin can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

This was a worthwhile stop in the park. There are numerous geological features, colours, bubbles.... It was pretty smelly though!

A wonderful place with many interesting thermal features. The steam boat geyser is very colorful in the winter and also it has many interesting steam pools. During the winter this location is accessible only by the snow coaches operated by many tour companies.
