  • Beautiful view of the river as you hike the ridge. We didn't go all the way, took nice path back. Only problem is parking. Not much of it.

  • This picnic area has an amazing view of the Yellowstone River. To get there, follow the small dirt path in the back of the parking circle near the bathrooms. It is only 600 feet one way. Be aware that you must walk uphill, but otherwise it is a very short walk. Don’t go on the path to the left of the parking area (assuming you’re facing away from the road) if you are only interested in the viewpoint seen below. That path is the 3.7 mile (round-trip) out-and-back Yellowstone River Overlook Trail. That trail runs parallel along the river, while the viewpoint is on the 600-foot trail that leads straight back. Be very careful when you get to the top. There are many small, loose rocks that you can easily slip on and fall if you are not careful. Don’t get too close to the edge, obviously. I probably wouldn’t bring small children up there. You should have bear spray with you. If you want to be extra cautious, you can clap or make loud noises while walking up the hill to try and scare away any potential bears.
  • The River View Trail is awesome, great views, awesome vantage points up top. A must if you’re in the area.
