Gaylor Lake, Yosemite National Park

#11 of 18 in Trails in Yosemite National Park
Water Body · Hidden Gem · Hiking Trail
A short hike to Gaylor Lake offers sweeping views of the meadows below and the mountains beyond. As you gaze back down from the pass after a steep climb, you can imagine how dinosaurs once wandered through the grass here. The mostly flat and gently sloping valley holds five picturesque lakes. If you continue the hike above the upper lake, you'll pass an abandoned 1870s mine. Above the valley's horizon rise the mountains that ring Tuolumne Meadows.
