Taft Point, Yosemite National Park

Enjoy magnificent 360-degree views of Yosemite Valley from Taft Point, a glacier observation point. Take a relatively easy hike to reach the vantage point; the short trek leads through the woods but involves a great deal of elevation change, amounting to 60 m (200 ft). • If you're heading to Yosemite early this morning by Okhersta-Vavony, this is a call in the first place. Later, closer to noon at the nearby small parking lot (its coordinates 37.712434,-119.586424), usually not found. Waiting for you is not tedious trails, great views and exceptional locations for shooting.

  • Taft point is only around a 1 mile hike if you drive to the trailhead. The view here is really amazing and the point is truly beautiful. Easy hike that just about anyone can do from the trailhead.  more »

  • I feel this hike is much too dangerous for kids. There are really no warnings about walking right off the edges to certain death here. No safety railings at all except on the very point.I would go to Sentinel Dome instead with kids.Having said that it is a great hike for adults but use extreme caution near the edges
  • Taft Point is one of the most beautiful views in Yosemite. It’s a short, easy hike with huge pay off! You can see Yosemite Falls and look down on El Cap, a rare view after driving through the valley beneath it. Warning: this viewpoint is not for the faint of heart, or anyone with an intense fear of heights. The cliffs are sheer drop offs. There is one point with a guardrail but everything else is open and not protected. I wouldn’t recommend this for children unless they will definitely stay close. Taft is a no-fall zone. Do not take it lightly.
