Create an itinerary including Yosemite, Tunnel View
Take in the majesty of nature at Yosemite, Tunnel View, one of Yosemite Park's most iconic viewpoints. This site has drawn visitors, photographers, and artists since it opened in 1933. Those arriving by road must drive through a long, dark tunnel before emerging to see the breathtaking scenery, hence the viewpoint's name. A turn-out with ample parking enables you to stop for photographs of El Capitan, Bridalveil Fall, and Half Dome. If you are feeling adventurous, you can embark on a hike up to Inspiration Point from here. Put Yosemite, Tunnel View into our Yosemite National Park road trip planning tool to see other points of interest to visit during your vacation in Yosemite National Park.

  • This is the picture that everyone takes. You can see most of the valley from there. If you are going to Yosemite don't skip this.

  • There is a reason National Geographic chose this site for its cover picture on National Parks, it is the most amazing view in the NPS. The way El Capitan, Half Dome and Bridal Veil Falls are...

  • This stop offers one of the best views of Yosemite and gives a great picture opportunity. There is also a parking lot on opposite side of this one in case this is full. If you are going to Glacier point, this will be on your way. I recommend stopping and taking a few pictures here. If you are not planning to go to Glacier point, you could still drive up to here, take pictures, enjoy views and go right back down to valley. I am told sunrise and sunset are the best times to take pictures at this point but I went in the afternoon and it wasn't too shabby at that time either.
  • Spectacular entrance into the Yosemite Valley! Do note that to get into the viewing area parking you have to make a left just as you exit the tunnel. The National Park Service has done as good a job as possible given the limited options available. You should be fine if you anticipate what's coming, slow down prudently and be ready, alert and careful with your turn. All that being said, don't pass this up!!!
