We had a great time here! The road was paved for a while and then it was hard sand/dirt for about 9 miles. The scenery was beautiful! I love some history so I was excited to learn more about this place and it was well worth the drive! The background of this old mine town was Castle Dome mountain - WOW! If you do visit, I recommend you go during the winter months, since they are closed in the summer. Also, if you do go in the spring - beware because that's when the wild life becomes more active: rattlers, coyotes, etc. The fee just for the town was $15 per person, but if you want to do the mine it is $75 per person. I HIGHLY recommend you do the mine tour - which includes access to the town. All in all we were there for about 2 hours. The best part of this place is that it is Pet Friendly 😍, so we took our fur baby along with us. Please if you do take your pet, please clean up after them!! Take food/snacks and water, as there is NO convenience store anywhere.

Old ghost town. Castle Dome was a mining area. It was active in late 1800's to early 1900's. There is a wide range of small buildings and some equipment and furnishings. There are also mine tours. Minimal entry fees. However the mine tour is on the high side. Took us about 3 hours after driving from Fortuna Foothills. Many things of interest for your kids.
