#3 of 15 in Nature in Zion National Park
Canyon · Nature / Park
Zion's Main Canyon serves as the mighty centerpiece of the Zion National Park. You can explore the 24 km (15 mi) long and 800 m (0.5 mi) deep canyon via one of its seven trails. The Weeping Rock trail is an easy half hour round-trip, making it suitable for the whole family. Experienced hikers might want to try the Angels Landing trail; the four-hour loop features impressive views but is not recommended for those with a fear of heights. The canyon is also home to a number of amenities and attractions, including a visitor center, a human history museum, and lodge. Take a look at our Zion National Park trip planning website to schedule your visit to Zion's Main Canyon and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

  • This is a great national park with very nice scenery. I drove in through the east entrance where I saw some mountain goats, which was nice. I drove through the tunnel to be welcomed by wonderful scenery on the other side. There was a lot of traffic, which ruined the scenery. I went to the visitor center, which was very busy. I spent a long time looking for parking because the parking lot was full. Due to the amount of people in the park, people weren’t allowed to drive their cars along the road that goes up to the attractions, so I had to take a shuttle bus instead after I found a parking spot. I got on the shuttle bus and went to The Narrows trail, which was very pretty. I walked along the trail up to the part where I had to go into the river itself. I would have liked to do that, but I unfortunately did not have enough time due to the fact that I had to drive to Las Vegas Airport and fly from there that night. I walked back, got in the shuttle bus, and left. I got off at the visitor center and left the park. Even though there were large crowds, my experience at Zion was still very nice.
  • So beautiful!!! You must go! Wear hiking shoes, dress to be outside. They have a great system for parking and getting through the park. Look at the weather and dress for it. They have a very informative website. Go go go!
